About Us
The Founding of The NoMad Alliance
In 2008, Leslie Spira Lopez led the rebranding of the neighborhood now known as NoMad, located north of Madison Square Park in Manhattan. The area has since expanded to include nearby blocks and has become one of New York City’s most desirable live–work–play neighborhoods. In 2009, she founded The NoMad Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering a sustainable community and supporting local businesses.
Leslie Spira Lopez is a dedicated New York City real estate executive, living and working in NoMad. She is the President and CEO of Kew Management Corp., a third-generation family business founded in 1953. Under her leadership, Kew Management owns and manages over a quarter million square feet of commercial office space in New York City and the Greater NY Metropolitan Area, with a strong focus on NoMad. Leslie became President of the New York Division of Kew’s predecessor company in 1995 and was promoted to President and CEO in 2001.
Leslie has a lifelong commitment to enhancing NoMad, including her work with Madison Square Park, a place she has cherished since childhood. She has served as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Madison Square Park Conservancy and has been a board member since 2002.
In addition to her role at Kew Management, Leslie is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Flatiron NoMad Partnership, a Business Improvement District (BID) focused on the neighborhood. She played a key role in expanding the BID’s boundaries to include NoMad.
A passionate advocate for NoMad, Leslie lives in the neighborhood with her husband where they raised their son. As both a resident and business leader, she works to improve and support the community she loves, benefiting its residents, business owners, and visitors.
NOMAD Magazine celebrates that there’s no place like NoMad. This interactive digital publication delves into NoMad personalities, businesses, and destinations under the categories of Live, Work, and Play.
